Organisation Overview:

Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative (RAC) is recognised as a leader among Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, maintaining a high profile in the public and private sectors across research, consultancy, policy development, and partnerships. RAC operates in a culturally appropriate, sensitive, community-controlled environment that maintains a holistic approach to service provision and emphasises the importance of family and community.

RAC has been a resource, service provider and enabler of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the Greater Shepparton region since 1980. RAC is a cooperative working to provide a range of supports and services including:

  • Asset and infrastructure services
  • Corporate services

RAC has an annual budget of $19 million and a workforce of approximately 230 people. Role Purpose:

You will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, holding accountability for the development and implementation of justice programs. Your role will include advocating for and influencing the application of the justice system to the Rumbalara Community. You will lead Family Violence programs, community education, and engagement initiatives, and develop prevention strategies for at-risk youth. Additionally, you will oversee multi-disciplinary teams supporting youth facing justice, alcohol, and other drug-related issues.

About you

• Tertiary qualified in Law, community services or related discipline.

• Certificate in Counselling (desirable)

• Minimum of five years’ experience in leadership roles within the Justice/Community Services sector.

• Demonstrated success securing, delivering and developing justice, family violence, youth alcohol and other drug programs in rural and regional settings

• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering education, early intervention and prevention strategies focused on atrisk-youth to rural communities

• Demonstrated experience leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams, culture and community engagement

• Demonstrated experience contributing to the strategic direction and business planning process

• Demonstrated ability to develop and be held accountable for business plan, budgets and key performance indicators

• Demonstrated commitment to the betterment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and an appreciation for the social determinate factors that influence the community’s wellbeing.

• Applied knowledge of the relevant legislative and governance requirements that govern the roles’ portfolio including but not limited to WHS and Privacy Act legislation.

• Experienced advocate with external representational responsibilities

• Experience supporting vulnerable people and their mentors/trainers in a business/operational context is desirable Benefits
