RAC has an annual budget of $19 million and a workforce of approximately 230 people. RAC is a significant employer and economic contributor to the region and plays a high profile leadership role as one of the larger Aboriginal organisations in Australia. RAC is committed to ensuring the Aboriginal people in the Goulburn Valley have certainty of access to community-controlled services.
Role Purpose:
As an AOD Support Worker, you will provide culturally safe, client-focused support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families affected by substance use. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will assess needs, develop individualized support plans, and connect clients with essential services such as health, housing, education, and employment.
Your role involves advocating for clients, promoting harm reduction strategies, and delivering culturally appropriate interventions. You will also collaborate with partner agencies to enhance service access and support recovery pathways.

About You
To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
•
A Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or a relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related field.
•Experience working with Aboriginal communities, particularly in AOD or social services, with an understanding of cultural, social, and historical factors affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
•Strong case management skills, including assessing needs, coordinating support, and advocating for clients using harm reduction strategies and culturally appropriate interventions.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with clients, families, and service providers, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
•Proficiency in using computers and maintaining accurate client records.
